Casa na Praia

Not simply beside the beach but actually on it, Casa na Praia can only be reached via the sandy shoreline of Jericoacoara (or Jeri) Beach in Jericoacoara National Park.

Days are unhurried and carefree at this hipster hangout where the views of Jeri’s famous sunsets are laid out in all their natural glory before you. These rippling dunes and the precious ecosystem of the surrounding park inspire Casa na Praia to observe green practises whenever possible.

In fact, due to the 239 days of sun each year, solar energy is the Casa’s main source of power, whilst organic materials and locally made products are standard features in the rooms. Mass recycling is also standard practise in every aspect of the business. Natural woods, linens and earthy colours decorate the 10 suites, all of which have a large private balcony and views of the garden or sea. And modern-day essentials include air conditioning, satellite LED TVs and WiFi. But the floral scents of hibiscus, jasmine and bougainvillaea in the gardens lure you outside where a pool offers cooling respite and more of those beach views.

Next to the pool and its adjacent bar is Casa na Praia’s La Plage Restaurant & Lounge where seafood takes a prominent position. The menu is an impressive read of both international and regional dishes, all prepared from fresh, local ingredients. Weekly dinner events on the beach include entertainment, live music and dancing such as Thursday nights’ Luaus and Sundays’ House and Electro evenings.

For a little excitement: take a buggy or four-wheel excursion to the area’s main attractions, try your hand at kitesurfing or take a windsurfing lesson.
